Cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 have been confirmed in Tottori and Shimane Prefectures. We must all do our part to prevent infection and to prevent the spread of the virus to others. Washing hands and wearing a surgical mask are important precautions against the spread of the new-type coronovirus. It is also important to avoid crowded public spaces, stay home if you feel unwell, get enough rest, and eat a balanced diet.

If you think you may have become infected, call the consultation center (hotline) before you go to the hospital. The center will introduce you to medical facilities that are able to treat you.

◎When should you call?
■When you have cold syptoms accompanied by a fever of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher for four or more days
■When you experience severe fatigue and have difficulty breathing

◎The following types of persons are highly susceptible to illness. Call the hotline promptly (upon experiencing symptoms for more than two days) if you are:
■Elderly
■Diabetic or have kidney disease or respiratory illness
■On dialysis
■In treatment for cancer
■Pregnant

●If traveling to regions where there is a high risk of new coronavirus pneumonia infection, avoid marketplaces where live animals are handled, and take all precautions such as wearing a surgical mask and washing hands frequently.

< To those entering or returning from China: >
■Persons entering the country from any region where there is a high risk of new coronavirus pneumonia infection should apply for quarantine if experiencing any symptoms of cough or fever or if taking any cough or fever reducing medication.
■If you experience any symptoms of cough or fever after having entered the country, please contact your nearest health facility to receive an examination according to the directions of a health professional.

Measures against Respiratory Infection from New Strain of Coronavirus in Wuhan, China

A Notice from Tottori Prefecture:
